  Is Emerson a philosopher? Or, do we consider Nature and Over-Soul as pieces of philosophy? Taking his style of writing into consideration, his work could almost be considered as literature or speeches. These understandings open up a way for me to be at peace with Emerson's somewhat controversial style. I go into Emerson almost suspending my own disbelief and trying to feel the persuasive power his original audience experienced in his time.
