Verena刘一朵Then we talked about music and art . In my opinion, it is impossible to say that music and art are independent. People use ears to hear music and use eyes to see the pictures. But what can human more feeling? What can directly effect people’s emotions? There’s a paradox. Some people prefer music cause while human see the art(pictures), they must think the deep meaning in them so that they could understand them and feel the artistic emotion. But music does not. Human can react to the pitch of a song like Dorian and other things. In my opinion, i think art can effect people’s emotions directly for several reasons. Firstly, music only can create a atmosphere but art can make you into a new world can evoke something. Secondly, art can give you a visual “lash” -

Verena刘一朵After I listened this class, I learnt a lot of things. Firstly, we can use how the things can do to define a things, just like art. For example, if you don’t know what is art means, then you could think that what can art do. Art is a via to let artists express their feeling to audience, so you can define art as: the way to express. Secondly, it really touch my heart. I used to think I draw things that must draw it reality, but I know it is not necessary to draw things reality. You use your thought, your emotion to draw one things rather than have an aim to draw things. I think an artist should connect the world, and use his way to express his view about an object. For example, you see the white sakura is trembling in the breeze, although it is white, but you draw it as red. Maybe lots of people think you are wrong, but you think, you draw things, although it is not reality, but it has your thought, your feeling about the world, it contains a part of your soul. So you don’t really care what the other one thinks, because they just stand on a view that just for reality, you stand on a view that just to show your emotion.

Verena刘一朵-What is the essence of art? Heidegger thinks art work could be told as the work of artist, and artist could be defined a person who paint art, so there must be another word, that can describe and define both art and art work. Heidegger thinks the truly artwork is an artist paints a painting that does not know what his or she is paint but can still evoke people’s emotion or something in it. Also, it can evoke a new world although it does not express anything. I think it is just like the suprematism. The supremacists use simple geometry to show their think and feeling directly although it is difficult to find what’s the things that they really draw. Also, Heidegger uses an example to illustrate that——the van Gogh’s the peasant shoes. Peasant shoes is just an equipment. When a peasant wear it, he or she will not consider that the way that it can be used, he or she just thinks it is comfortable to wear it. Human use simple things in their world, but they don’t think it is a equipment while they are using. So they will not notice them. Also, if a person ask another person to image a peasant shoes, it is very difficult for the latter to do that because he even doesn’t notice it in the dairy life. So, painting arises. Painting(art work) let you to know what the “peasant shoes” is in truth if human don’t think it’s equipment. Also, thought this very small and simple things, human could also see another world from it by using their imagination.

Verena刘一朵Today we learn Heidegger’s the original of art. Firstly, original. We usually think original is a temporal or historical origin. However, Heidegger thinks origin means from which and by which something is what it is and as it is, it means it essence. There are two questions. -What does art do? Change personality temperament purge human’s soul Self-expression Review a social problem Historical record/publicize religious ideas Cure some disease Decorate the world Represent Can convey artists emotion or experience to the world In my opinion, there is a paradox in the view of “Can convey artists emotion or experience to the world” because of 3 reasons We could not understand the art work by our superficially knowledge. We don’t know the artist truly mean just by seeing a painting instead of asking him or her Everyone has his own idea bout the same art work, so it is impossible to see this work is just express this idea, because the artist did not directly says his or her truly want to mean. And also, I think just because art could represent, so art is continually becoming more and more diverse and wonderful. Before the camera appeared, artists pursued to draw reality to record the world. But after camera appeared, a revolution for the artist appeared . They not only pursued to draw things reality, but also to contain their opinion about art, their emotion, their experience in their life. So the meaning of the art up to a new hierarchy.
