    It finally come out in the wash why Madame Defarge had spared no effort to kill the aristocracy. She had suffered losing all her family because of the Marquis' cruel and villainous behaviors. The action of the novel is furious but not astounding to the audience since the author has mentioned "revenge" for many times in previous chapters, which foreshadows Madame Defarge's miserable and heartrending past experience.
