Helen was not only a valuable friend to Jane Eyre, but also an important mentor in her life. Having grown up in an environment of oppression and bullying, which inevitably led to hatred in her heart, Helen's reassurance revealed to Jane Eyre that one cannot simply call a spade a spade and an eye an eye, but that it is better to let go of the malice and abuse through love and forgiveness. But I think there is a certain weakness in Helen's perception; after all, she cannot fully understand and empathise with the circumstances in which Jane Eyre grew up, and sometimes in the face of a more powerful enemy, one must learn to fight back and protest, to make one's stand and win back one's dignity and rights.
