From The Greek and Roman Mythology to The Bible, from the Middle Ages to Renaissance, from the seventeenth Century to the Enlightenment, and to our century, this century; from myth to literature, from art to music, from science to psychology, etc. this book gives me a panorama of the development in the mysterious Europe, historically and literaturally.
In fact, during my last two years in the university as an English majoy, I had learned much about the European literature, and through an optional course about the art of Europe I had enjoyed so many masterpieces presented by my teacher, but to be honest, there is no such systematic book I can refer to, therefore, I did not have a integrated master of the western cultures. After reading this book, I may be confident enough to taik about English literature without any confusion.
Now, I would like to read such a book about Chinese or oriental culture and introduction, as China has a longer and more colorful history. Thank you!
