The author opposed the view that society is merely an aggregation of individuals. It is an organism with life beyond individuals. The whole life of society is carried out through the cooperation of the units that make up it. On the other words, we are working for the society and getting return from it. People depend on the society decides we ought to get along well with surroundings to get a room for ourselves. That we need especially is sincerity, not utilitarianism or money worship.
