The Great Gatsby

The Great Gatsby is written by American author, F. Scott. Fitzgerald, who is considered a member of the "lost generation" of the Twenties. It is ranked second in the Modern Library's list of the 100 best novels of the 20th century.

On the surface, The Great Gatsby is a story of the thwarted love between a man and a woman.

The protagonist Gatsby, a poor farmer's child, fell in love with a rich girl called Daisy before go to war. After his retirement, Gatsby found that Daisy married a wealthy man named Tom. He was distressed and thought he lost Daisy because he had no money. So he began to chase money crazily. When he has enough wealth, he dedicated himself to winning Daisy back. Gatsby made himself famous around New York and made friends with celebrities. He had elaborate parties every weekend at his mansion. The party is almost unbelievably luxurious, just looks like the World Fair. He carried out a very elaborate schedule to become elegant and noble.

Sadly, Gatsby died in the end and his dream died too. Daisy did not attend Gatsby's funeral.

This is the main reason why Gatsby's dream cannot come true is that he did not know her clearly. To Gatsby, Daisy is his true love and represents perfection. He is fearless. He would give anything, for his dream even his life.

In my opinion, this book is well worth reading. It gives me a lot of inspiration about life.
