I do admire the book-The Great Gatsby ,it not only tells us a love story,but also reflects a special period of the USA-the ‘Jazz Age ’ The main character Daisy herself is a symbol of the period , and of the American dream, representing not only gatsby's pursuit, but also the spiritual outlook of the whole "jazz age", as well as the values and moral standards of the bourgeois hypocrisy. Gatsby's yearning for pure Daisy in his heart becomes the spiritual support for him, but the cruel reality strikes him again and again. That is why it is called the most touching American tragedy". It was a time like China today:a society filled with vanity, money, power, and illegal business practices, people talking about celebrities and famous brands, hardly care about philosophy or poetry, lack of the true spiritual traction. Therefore, what makes the great gatsby so touching is its simple story, ordinary characters and honesty, which reveal real vanity and humanity.
