Review of Gatsby

See The Society through Gatsby (owing to the number of words limit in the title)

I have read it several years ago ,but I nearly forgot it.So it's also a brand new reading experience for me.And not only can I review the fantastic details but also enjoy the beautiful sentences and paragraphs.

Upon finishing reading ,I am so grief to the tragic experience of Gatsby ,and then to the America society of that time .Gatsby was born in a poor family in the bottom of society.He fell in love with a pretty girl before going to the war .And the war ended,he came back with large amount of unidentified money,only to discover that the pretty woman he loved has already married a poor man with low social statue .In order to catch her attention ,he bought a luxurious house ,what lies between which and the woman's house is several feet's sea surface.He held parties every day , the main purpose of which is nothing but to raise his social statue.Apart from this ,he claimed to the celebrities that he graduated from Cambridge and he inherited all his money from his distant uncle.But finally all his effort was in vain ,though he enjoyed a great fame among celebrities.Gradually ,he realized that his lover ,Daisy, was not the person he truly loved.However ,owing to his unaltered love for Daisy,he committed the crime of killing the mistress of Daisy's husband.What's even worse ,Daisy was determined to abandon Gatsby .Later ,the dead mistress's husband was provoked by another person called Tom .Anger filled him ,stimulating he to kill Gatsby. And the tragic ending with Gatsby was that Daisy didn't come to his funeral,so dismal.All his fame and treasure were gone and he left nothing worthy to the world .

Gatsby reflected the the pains of that time .The whole society was pursuing the frothy "America Dream" .And without the mental goals ,the dream consequently became the pursuit of money purely.Everyone wanted fame and money but they forgot the sustainable development couldn't be  made by physical pursuit.No one without the spiritual pursuits can truly enjoy the life .Anyone who wanted to show off became ruthless ,so as the whole society .Daisy is a kind of flower with yellow dotted in the white ,which stands that loneliness always stays with money ,indicating the superficial relationships.

What impressed me also include the way of telling the story. He acted as a participant as well as a  storyteller. Through his sight ,though we can't know Gatsby clearly ,we can know everything objectively.And there is a big difference between him and Gatsby that they have different point towards life. Nick preferred a poetic and meaningful life while Gatsby was keen on money.Apart from this ,Nick was educated and he was of the upper class undoubtedly while Gatsby was a tagrag .

Nick also told us a beneficial sentence his father told him that whenever you feel like criticizing anyone, just remember that all the people in this world haven't had the advantages that you've had.The more you use it ,the more you will gain.
