POINT
The Great Gatsby describes the Jazz Age, and Gatsby is an outstanding product of that age! I myself felt sorry for Gatsby, who was so single-minded, but who ended up being murdered by the woman he loved. There are certainly things to admire about him. He was able to see the feelings of the beautiful, and did not like the majority of people to associate feelings and interests. But he is indeed misled by his ideals. He does not see the time and place. He should not cling to the perfect memory of the past when the person he wants is married. Daisy was too vain and too greedy.
To some extent, Gatsby's final fate has a great deal to do with her.
It can also be seen why Gatsby is great. He has everything, wealth, status and power, all of which make him a man of supreme status. However, the love he pursues pushes him to destruction!
