为什么盖茨比了不起?
杰克2000
Why was Gatsby great? The author uses the adjective "great" to
describe the main character Gatsby, which made me think about why Gatsby
was great. Unlike Daisy or Buchanan, Gatsby had a poor childhood. Like
many Americans at the time, Gatsby was obsessed with money. In an
accident, he saved a rich man, and with his help Gatsby learned to be a
gentle person. However, Gatsby did not get what the rich had. As a
result, Gatsby was nobody again. At a party, Gatsby met Daisy and they
fell in love at once. They had a good time together until Gatsby fought
in World War I. A few years later, Daisy finally married a rich man and
had a daughter, and Gatsby made as much money as he can. Gatsby
prepared for a long time to see Daisy again and discovered that they
were still in love. Daisy was not satisfied with her husband Buchanan
and suggested that Gatsby leave with her. Unfortunately, Gatsby refused
and insisted that Daisy get divorced with Tom. The argument at the
table almost drove Daisy mad. She happened to kill Buchanan's mistress.
Gatsby was worried about Daisy and agreed to leave with her. But Daisy
and Buchanan left the day after Daisy killed the woman. Gatsby was
murdered by the husband of Tom’s mistress. Although Gatsby lied about
who he was, he was still a great man. Although he cheated Daisy at the
beginning, I still like this man after the story. I can only think of
one sentence, the Great Gatsby. Let's take a brief look at Gatsby's
life. He was born in a peasant family. At that time, he had a great goal
-- to become a man of great fortune. He joined the army and went to war.
A few years later, he succeeded. He began to want to pursue his old
dreams, to see Daisy, to be with her again. He started a long party. At
his parties, there were all kinds of people, rich people, famous ones,
stars, soldiers, directors, even vagrants and salesmen... Different
classes of people come to Gatsby's house, but Gatsby just stood in the
crowd, keeping his style, waiting, expecting to see Daisy again. Later,
when he met Nick, he thought about it for a long time, and in order to
see Daisy again, he continued to tell his story. What a pure man he is.
Unlike Tom and Daisy, they only love themselves and money. Gatsby
believed in green lights and the future. He kept proving it. He did his
best and did it better than anyone else. Nowadays, new things are
happening every day, but we have lost the power to chase and fight for
our original dreams. We know too much and are afraid of failure. Then
our goals began to blur and we stopped. Gatsby, however, was so pure.
He believed in the green lights and tried his best to achieve it.
Although he later learned about Daisy’s change, he still wanted to
pursue his old dream. It's stupid, but that's what we're missing. We
should always be original and follow our hearts.
