Reading Report
This book was written by John Locke, a famous British philosopher and thinker in the 17th century. The whole book is Locke's advice on how to cultivate his son into a gentleman. The content of the book is the crystallization of Locke's many years of experience as a tutor.
This book covers three topics as a whole, followed by physical education, moral education and intellectual education. First of all, physical education is health education. At the beginning, Locke showed his view that the spirit of health lies in the body of health. It focuses on how to make children have a healthy body, from the aspects of warmth, swimming, air, clothes, diet, sleep, medicine and so on. He pointed out that the main criterion for a strong body is to be able to endure hard work. The methods given by Mr. Locke are: absorb more fresh air, exercise more and sleep more; food should be light, alcohol or strong drinks should not be drunk, and drugs should be rarely used, preferably not used; clothes should not be too warm and tight, especially the head and feet should be cool. Feets should be used in cold water and should be in contact with water. These methods are also simple and easy.
The mainstream of educational thought in educational rambles is worthy of our continued study today. Educational mistakes should not be made lightly than other mistakes. Educational mistakes are just like mismatched drugs, and their impact is difficult to wash away. In this way, people can't help but examine themselves: what impact will I leave on my children? In short, even the most ordinary children, if properly educated, will become extraordinary people.
