university
The idea of university this book, lead us to think about a problem, what universities should train students, what students should do when they go to university. Newman believed that university, as a place of education, should provide students with a platform for free learning and communication, expand the scope of subject teaching and allow students to receive free education. I agree with that. Utilitarianism prevails on campus, what students pursue is not knowledge, but a good job, high salary and so on. Learning a course is not about the mastery of knowledge, not about self-discovery, but about how to get high marks. We are in an important ascending phase of life, where we are learning, not achieving. I have always felt that it is a good thing for college students to explore alternative possibilities beyond the norms set by the world. College knowledge is an end in itself, a useful profit and a free enjoyment.
