A reading report
Some Thoughts Concerning Education is an educational masterpiece written by John Locke, a great British philosopher and Enlightenment thinker in the 17th century. The book is divided into four parts. The first part is about physical health care. The second part is about moral education, which is the focus of the book. The third part is about intellectual education, and the fourth part comes to a conclusion.
The first is the aspect of physical health care. From the beginning, the book mentioned that "A sound mind in a sound body, is a short, but full description of a happy state in this world." From this, we can see that Locke believes that good physical quality is particularly important. Good physical quality is closely related to healthy education, and health education is closely linked with cultivating good habits. Therefore, as parents, we should cultivate children's good living habits and exercise their physical quality.
The second aspect is moral education. Locke believes that virtue is the most important and indispensable thing in life. Therefore, he put forward many specific requirements for children's moral education, among which the example education impressed me deeply. Each of us, especially children, likes to imitate others. It is the people around them who can most affect their behavior. Those who are near friends are red and those who are near ink are black. Therefore, parents should set a good example for their children.
The third aspect is intellectual education. Locke attached great importance to the method of intellectual education, and he also put forward some meaningful opinions.
To make a long story short, after reading this book, I benefited a lot. This book helped me better understand how to educate my children and how to make my children into gentleman. I hope everyone can read it and harvest what they think and feel.
