读后感

One beautiful September morning, Holmes received a visiting letter from
a doctor named James Mortimer. The letter tells the story of how Hugo
Baskerville, the ancestor of the Baskervilles, was killed over a hundred
years ago by the teeth of the legendary "Hound of the
Baskervilles." Since then, the Baskervilles have been haunted by
the SINS of their ancestors, and the heirs of the family patriarch have
all died in strange and gruesome ways. At first Holmes was not attracted
by the story of Dr Mortimer and thought it was just an interesting
legend. But as Dr. Mortimer gradually tells Holmes about the mystery of
Sir Charles Baskerville's death, Holmes decides to intervene in the
case, because he realizes that it is not only the true death of the late
Earl Charles, but also the life of Henry Baskerville, the next heir to
Baskerville Hall. Holmes finally sees through the criminal's scheme, and
with the cooperation of Watson and the detective, kills the terrible
hound, and Stapleton dies in the swamp during his late-night escape.
