He quit his job and returned to his hometown, for he wanted to help more people. In his spare time, he began to work on what was to become Bencao Gangmu – his guide to the medical use of herbs.

2. love chinese medicine

Shizhen couldn't wait to begin his new chapter in life. He read and studied about medicine. In the daytime, he learnt how to treat patients from his father. At night, he read books on medicine.  

3.insist

Shizhen studied hard for the exams. After several years of hard work, he took the exams, but failed. Three years later, he tried again and then he failed once more. Altogether he took the exams three times, and sadly he failed all his attempts.
