scence 1I t was a bitter cold evening in northern Virginia many years ago 2When I came home and stepped into my house doorway, I was greeted by my quilts just there. 3Along the country road, there were many beautiful flowers, green grass and trees. The sun gently glistened through the leaves. 4 We were staying at a beautiful little guest cabin, surrounded by fruit trees, flowers and even a few goats. Painted above the doorway in brightly colored 5 As the first hint of sun was creasing the horizon, 6 The apartment looked as if no one had lived in it for years. All the furniture was covered with sheets. There were no clocks on the walls, no knickknacks or utensils on the counters. In the corner was a cardboard box filled with photos and glassware. 7 the building was dark except for a single light in a ground floor window. act 1I opened the trunk and took the small suitcase to the door. The woman was already seated in a wheelchair. 2Two orderlies came out to the cab as soon as we pulled up. They were solicitous and intent, watching her every move. 3I quietly reached over and shut off the meter. 4He just laughed and handed me half the books. 5I helped him pick up his books, and asked him where he lived. 6I shrugged my shoulders and went on. speech 1“Thankfully, I was saved. My friend saved me from doing the unspeakable.” 2“Damn boy, you are gonna really build some serious muscles with this pile of books everyday! ” 3“It’s nothing,” I told her, “I just try to treat my passengers the way I would want my mother treated.” “Oh, you’re such a good boy,” she said. 4“It’s not the shortest way,” I answered quickly. “Oh, I don’t mind,” she said, “I’m in no hurry. I’m on my way to a hospice.” 5“How much do I owe you?” she asked, reaching into her purse. “Nothing,” I said. “You have to make a living,” she answered. “There are other passengers,” I responded. Inner world 1I was very worried because I thought I had hurt her. I was in great embarrassment and I didn’t know what I should do 2On a quick review, I don’t think that I have done anything more important in my life. 3l though to myself “Why world always be friends,that the miles would never be a problem ” 4
