Great work

The Great Gatsby, like a brilliant literary pearl, has a unique and
lasting light in the starry sky of American literature. This novel by
Francis Scott Key Fitzgerald, with its delicate brushwork, profound
connotation and exquisite narrative structure, presents readers with a
panoramic picture of the American society in the 1920s, while also
digging deep into the complex emotions in the depths of human nature. 1.
Gatsby's character image and dream pursuit Gatsby, undoubtedly the core
character of the novel, is a charming and tragic character. He was born
poor, but he had a burning dream of a better life. His love for Daisy is
not only a feeling between men and women, but also a sustenance for his
longing for a better life in the upper class society. In order to win
Daisy's heart, he plunges into risky business activities and amasses a
huge fortune through illegal means. He throws lavish parties that
attract celebrities from all walks of life, and behind all this
seemingly extravagant life, it is actually a carefully planned
performance to chase his dream. He tried to use wealth to make up for
the class gap between himself and Daisy, however, he did not realize
that this gap is not only material, but also spiritual and values.
Gatsby's greatness lies in his persistence in his dream. In the face of
numerous obstacles in reality, he always adhered to the belief in his
heart. In his eyes, Daisy is the perfect embodiment of his dream,
symbolizing all his yearning for a better life. This pure pursuit of
dreams is particularly precious in the context of a materialistic
society. But at the same time, that's where his tragedy comes from. He
idealized Daisy and the upper class society he longed to integrate into,
failing to see the complexity of human nature and the cruelty of
reality. Second, the image of Daisy and its symbolic significance Daisy
is a complex and multi-faceted female image. She is beautiful and
elegant, but deeply bound by material and vanity. She lived in a wealthy
family and was accustomed to a lavish lifestyle, an environment that
gradually distorted her values. In the face of the emotional decision
between Gatsby and Tom, her hesitation reflects her inner conflict. She
has sincere feelings for Gatsby, but this feeling is fragile in the face
of the pressure of reality and the temptation of material. Daisy
symbolized the emptiness and hypocrisy of the upper class of American
society at that time. She is outwardly a glamorous socialite, but in
reality her soul has been eroded by money and status. Her behavior and
choice reflected many people's blind pursuit of material and neglect of
true love and humanity in the society at that time. The love tragedy
between her and Gatsby is not only the emotional entanglement between
two people, but also the conflict and collision between two different
classes and different values. Third, narrative perspective and story
development The novel is narrated from Nick Callaway's first-person
point of view, which is an ingenious narrative strategy. As a relatively
neutral observer, Nick is both in this social environment full of
temptation and degradation, and can keep a certain distance to reflect.
His identity enables him to penetrate into Gatsby's world, witness his
glory and desolation, and also see the true face of Daisy, Tom and
others. Through Nick's eyes, the story develops with suspense and
tension. With Nick's eyes, the reader gradually uncovers the mystery of
Gatsby, and gets to know his past, his dreams, and his relationships
with the people around him. Nick's inner monologue and his views on the
events around him also guide the reader's thinking about the characters
and events in the story. For example, after seeing what Gatsby did for
Daisy, Nick's inner contradiction and critical attitude towards the
society enable readers to understand the theme of the novel more deeply.
Fourth, the use of symbolism The novel is full of various symbolic
devices, the most famous of which is the "green light". The
green light flashing at the end of Daisy's dock was the light of hope in
Gatsby's heart. It symbolizes Gatsby's dream, always flickering in the
distance, seemingly close at hand, but out of reach. This green light
continues throughout the story, taking on different meanings as Gatsby's
fortunes rise and fall. At the beginning of the story, the green light
represents Gatsby's confident yearning for the future; At the end of the
story, when Gatsby loses everything, the green light also loses its
original magic, symbolizing the collapse of the dream. In addition,
Gatsby's mansion is also an important symbol. The lavish building was a
symbol of his wealth and a stepping-stone to his attempt to enter the
upper classes of society. However, the interior of this seemingly
magnificent mansion is filled with loneliness and emptiness, just like
Gatsby's heart. His big parties, although lively, but the guests mostly
just to enjoy the free entertainment and food, no one rea。
