The Great Gatsby
用户867082
The Great Gatsby, written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is a timeless literary
masterpiece set in the flashy Jazz Age of America. The story centers
on Gatsby, who struggles relentlessly to gain wealth and social status
merely to recapture his old love Daisy. He holds grand parties night
after night, clinging firmly to his pure love and distant dreams.
Nevertheless, Daisy is shallow and selfish, and the upper-class society
is filled with hypocrisy and indifference. All his devotion and efforts
end in vain. Gatsby is truly great. Though surrounded by material
desires and worldly vanity, he never abandons his original heart and
sincere beliefs. His tragic fate perfectly reflects the disillusionment
of the American Dream. This novel exposes the huge gap between dreams
and reality. It teaches us to cherish true feelings, stay sober-minded,
and never lose ourselves in illusory luxury and empty fantasies.
