Review of The Cop an

This classic short story by O. Henry tells about Soapy, a homeless man. As winter draws near, he longs for three months in prison to get free food and shelter. He tries various ways to break the law, yet the police ignore all his attempts. Standing by a church later, he is touched by sacred music and decides to turn over a new leaf. Ironically, a policeman arrests him for wandering just at that moment. The surprising ending sharply criticizes the unfair society. It reveals the cold reality that the poor can hardly get a chance to live a better life.
