My Thoughts on The G

The Great Gatsby is one of the most famous American novels, and after
reading it, I have many deep feelings about dreams, love and wealth.
The main character Gatsby is a poor man who falls deeply in love with a
rich girl Daisy. To win her back, he works hard and becomes wealthy. He
buys a big house and holds big parties every week, just hoping Daisy
will appear one day. For many years, he keeps his simple and sincere
dream in his heart. However, the ending is very sad. Daisy is selfish
and shallow. She enjoys Gatsby’s love and wealth but chooses her rich
and cruel husband in the end. She even lets Gatsby take the blame for
her mistake, which finally causes Gatsby’s death. Sadly, almost no one
attends Gatsby’s funeral after all his grand parties. This book tells
me a true lesson. Wealth cannot bring real happiness and true love.
Gatsby’s dream is beautiful, but it is based on a wrong person and the
vain rich world. The so-called “American dream” in the story is actually
empty for many people. In my opinion, Gatsby is a tragic but
respectable person. He is loyal and persistent to his dream. This book
makes me understand that we should chase real and valuable dreams,
instead of pursuing empty vanity and illusory love. True happiness never
comes from money or fake glory.
