One reason is that reading this book is so joyous. I have to surrender to the author’s exquisite sound of a peaceful heart, as well as his overwhelming compassion between the lines. This thoughtful sound, mixed with the spirit of nature and the light of humanity, is recorded on his papers, which lulls and tunes my mind.

While I’m reading those essays, I nearly hear the murmurous sentences of Henry Ryecroft echoing in the fields, along the streams, up the hills and down in to the valley glades, from the spring to the winter. His words give me a new lease of life. The scenery in his prose lends me feelings far more than just sensual but spiritual as well. His description of the rural life is so simply beautiful that whiling reading I nearly come up with a impulse to escape the rustle and bustle of the city and to settle in a small village for one or two years, to breathe the sunshine, to watch the starry night or to sing a song with the frogs. How nice it would be? I wonder. What the author said is true; the nature has its moment of unmatched beauty and it’s so lucky for us to enjoy it, spring after spring. For me, this unmatched beauty is captured in his writings.
