Very limited kindness

A cup of tea is a short story which contains many deep and meaningful moral revalations.

"Rosemary Fell was not exactly beautiful."The first line of the story actually hide the foreshadowing. So it is not difficult to understand that when Philip reminded Rosemary ,“she’s so astonishingly pretty”,she became so nervous and mean.

At first,we picture a warm-hearted upper-class woman who is so kind to show sympathy to a homeless poor little gril. She took her home persistently, got her well-dressed,talked and communicate with her.She left quite a decent impression on readers. At that moment,I was wondering why Miss Smith kept crying out"I just wanna a cup of tea"or some kind, since it is also related to the title of the book. However,in the end of the story,I can finally figure it out.In fact, the kindness of Rosemary indeed limited. It only worths a cup of tea.Nothing more can she provide for the poor little girl, such as trust. It actually shows the frailty of human beings, especially for female(no disrimination here).Jealousy sometimes grows like weeds in our hearts. Not every can prevent the bad influences of it,like the heroine of this story.

Therefore, this kind of goodwill turn out to be so ironic and hypocritical.
