I read the book named His Last Bow, describing the retired life of the world-known talented detective, Sherlock Holmes written by Arthur Conan Doyle. There are eight stories in this attractive novel, in which attracted me most was the last story, his last bow.

With the despair of the policy and the reader, Sherlock Holmes retired. He left London for Sussex, where he gave up his career of detective temporarily but to research the method of the culture of bees. After his extraordinary detective career of 30 years, he maybe need to relax from the life full of fright and threats.

However, cases always accompanied Holmes, seeming not to let his reasoning capacity fall behind. In the age of 58, he resurfaced to close the case named his last bow, invited by the premier of England. He spent as long as 2 years in conducting searches in the US as well as in the Ireland, finally eliminating the spies of Germany.

The truth of the case was gradually displayed to the reader. It was on account of the time which was the First World War that the case occurred. The Germany delegated spies in England in order to steal the confidential files.

Holmes was sincerely invited by the government of England to face the threats. Holmes made up to be an American only to cheat the spies and attain their trust, and provide fake confidential information to the spies. Before the day of the beginning of the war, Holmes revealed his true identity, and arrested the spies with the assistance of Dr. John Hamish Watson, who made up to be a driver.

In my mind, I feel grateful to see that Holmes came out again. Maybe in his mind, the life without cases lacked something that he was used to. When there is a place with cases, there must be a Holmes, to close the case. As what he said, "If I were assured of the former eventuality I would, in the interests of the public, cheerfully accept the latter."
