love and selfishness

The Furnished Room tells us a story that deserves to be thought after our reading.The two lovers died in the same room in the same way,which does makes us sad and moved.On the one hand,I admires the boy's persistance in finding his dear girl.His love is pure and great.On the other hand,I hate that the house-owner suppressed the truth to the man only for the sake of renting her room.I am thinking that what if she hadn't told the lie?Did he choose to lie because of her death or sadly accept the fact and go back?

 There is a clear contrast between great love and dark selfishness,which sets people thinking.The author was good at surprising readers in the end.So did say truth within plain descriptions.Having read this novel,I can feel helpless anger of the author for the cold reality.Sometimes,we are surely disppointed with the world but cannot change it.This is the truth,maybe.
