Tow Cities
In the novel, Dickens succeeded in creating the distinct characters of the main characters. Manette was a father who loved his daughter so much that he married her to the son of his enemies with tolerance. Lucy is a gentle and kind wife, in order to let her husband to see her, she stood against the wall for two hours every day. Charles was an upright and magnanimous nobleman who fell in love with Lucy, and was willing to lay down his title and fortune for affection.
What I loved most and touched me most in this novel is the paralegal, Sidney Carlton. Between life and love, he chose the latter. He laid down his life for Lucy’s lover.
Although the novel ends with an unexpected happy ending, I feel regretful and sad. Some people say that emotions are selfish, but in Dickens's a tale of two cities, I can deeply feel the most pure and lofty love. It's hidden deep inside, but incredibly deep. It suffers silently for the happiness of the beloved. It always gives without asking for anything in return. This kind of love rise to a new state virtually, and it is forever beautiful and charming.

At the end of the novel,I was deeply moved by Carden’s love. After reading this novel,I realized that I am really in a happy era.The poor poele at that time were really pitiful. Some pictures always come into my mind-people were still happily driking wine that had spilled on the floor, the rich man cared only that his horse was being held up,not that he had killed a child, and the rich man would rather give meat to dogs than to people.Such a horrible society really drove people crazy. At first I thought the lady was very bad,who was horrible, fierce and cold. She was also a tragic figure,a victim of that era.
