Gulliver's Travels
Gulliver's Travels was written by Jonathon Swift, who was a great warrior and a great master of satire. The author depicted the reality of England at that time by means of fictitious plots and fantasy. He not only satired the British society, but also denied the whole human society. He also spoke of human nature as a willingness to be enslaved to money, either extravagance or greed. The Houyhnhnms represented human beings, but the protagonist was so disgusted by them. The author’s dissatisfaction with society was evident in every line of the look. On the other hand, the protagonist’s life in the kingdom of Houyhnhnms was the most forgettable to him. Houyhnhnms didn’t have any words for sin, such as deceit, doubt, cunning, etc. therefore, their society would not do such things and the world was a place of real happiness. Our society is not quiet as bad as it was then, but it is not much better. Pretty theft, littering, vandalism…It is all about what we see around us. Murder, arson, drug trafficking, brutality and madness…It is not surprising that we see too much on TV. After reading Gulliver's Travels, I also look forward to the day when our society, like Houyhnhnms, will not longer have doubts in the eyes of children. Education is unified with reality. I would like to make effects for this, and I also expect everyone to start from himself and from around, so that this society is more sincerely, and less hypocrisy.
