Growing up is not terrible, but forgetting--Le Petit Prince
Le Petit Prince is not only a world-famous philosophic fairy tale, but also a fable pregnant with the meaning of life. When I read the book for the first time, I was attracted by the poetry between the lines., but at that time I just regard it is a fairy tale book full of poetry. I would transcribe it in my own book when I read some very beautiful sentences. Now that I'm over the age of reading fairy tales, I have different feelings when I pick up this book again.
From my perspective, this book is written for adults. There are many philosophies that adults need to understand."I've forgotten all the feelings of childhood." yes, adults have a poor memory. They don't remember the power of the heart, the true feelings, and the pure beauty. In the eyes of children, adults are very strange. Many adults are full of the desire for money and power, and they are practical and utilitarian. They never seem to be satisfied with the status quo. The king,the first person that little prince visited,symbolized the man who pursues power in real life;the second person little prince visited was a vain man,he represents those who blindly pursue vanity and deviate from reality in the adult world. The businessman is the author's portrayal of the greedy human nature in the adult world. There are also absurd drunkards, blind lighters and dogmatic geographers. The people on these planets constitute the paintings of the adult world, satirizing the people lost in the adult world.
Growing up is not terrible, but forgetting. If we can't find and eliminate the desire in time, it will occupy people's mind and drive people to destruction. So adults need to read this book to get away from lust and greed and find their innocence and love. Actually,there is no need to criticize adults,because no one wants to be secular and become the kind of person they hated most when they were little. You hate your father's mediocrity, but you don't know that he was also a boy with hope; you hate your mother's philistine tact, but you don't know she looked forward to the future as you do when she was young.
Maybe the world is too adult, too mature. When you use the adult's body to keep your childlike innocence and do something that doesn't fit your age, you will become out of place, even ridiculed and rejected. So, you gradually become an adult, even if no one prescribes what an adult looks like. In order to live in the adult world, your curiosity, innocence and even vexatious behavior will disappear. Maybe sometimes you think of these things, but they will be drowned out by the voice that you are an adult and do not meet your age. You dare not cry or make a scene easily, so you are unconscious imprisoned by an invisible framework called "adult". Many important things can't be seen with the naked eye, so we need to understand them with our hearts. In fact, each of us is the little prince in the story. As long as we can regain the innocence and beauty without being changed by the changing society, even if you have to do something you don't like for life like an adult, you can still find the joy of life, so no one can stop you from pursuing the joy and the dream.
No one stipulates what should we do after growing up. Everyone has only one life, so we should be free and easy to live. No matter when you grow up, you should keep your childlike innocence. Growing up is not terrible, but forgetting.
