特别的人Sister Carrie's essence is reflected in her choices. She left her poor hometown and came to New York. She became the mistress of Drouet and Hurstwood. Later he stepped onto the stage and became a famous actor. These choices also reflect the existentialist philosophy style of "man is absolutely free". Every choice of Carrie is closely related to society and others. She should be responsible for her choice, and also bear the responsibility to others and society. In the end, although Carrie succeeded in realizing her dream, she squeezed into the upper class. But all existence is nihility, she can't find the meaning of life, she lives alone. Through free choice, Carrie constantly proves her existence and takes responsibility for her choice. The consequence is endless loneliness and pain, which highlights the absurdity and ugliness of the world she lives in.
