A dialogue between Carton and a tailor impressed me most. Before Carton decided to die in place of Darney, he met a poor tailor who was misjudged by the Revolutionary Committee. The tailor told "Dear stranger, I would not have been so calm without you, because I was born a poor little person. But I feel comforted that we can still cherish hope here today. I think you were given to me by God."These are the sources of courage that people in the boat use to resist wind and waves. They are not afraid if they are really going to die, because they believe that pain and death are not all, and there is a truly beautiful country waiting at the end of the world, that is the eternal hometown. As long as they love each other, they can say with confidence: "What I have done now is far better than everything I have done; the rest I will get is far sweeter than everything I know."
