A Story about Growth
This book is about an adventure of Alice, however, the whole story is also about a child's growth. If we read the story in a metaphorical way, we can find many thought-provoking points.
For example, after Alice drinks and eats the stuff in the hole, her body grows so quicky out of control, for which she feels so upset and insecure. This is a magnification of the problem of not feeling in control of one's body during the strange transformations of adolescence.
What's more, the inconsistent size of her body frustrates and saddens her as she can't reconcile her identity as a sensitive young child and as a giant, independent and alone.
Such examples are countless. The author delicately shows the subtle psychology of a child. The confusion and insecurity and vividly pictured.
