Walden Lake
唐恬
Thoreau was far away from the hustle and bustle of the world. He wanted to find a true living state and a more poetic life in the tranquility of nature. Walden Lake, a book, records the writer's daily life and thoughts for two years in detail. He cultivates land beside the cabin, planting in spring and harvesting in autumn, and is self-sufficient. He is a son of nature. He advocates nature, makes friends with nature, talks with lake water, forest and birds, observes animals and plants in the forest, plays flute on the boat, fishes by the lake, and records his observations and thoughts in the cabin at night. He pursues spiritual life and pays attention to the growth of the soul. He proudly declares: "Everyone is the king of his own kingdom. Compared with this kingdom, the czar empire is just a small and humble country, just like a small snow ball in the snow and ice." Thoreau tells us with his practical actions that most of the luxuries people pursue, and most of the so-called comfort of life, are not only unnecessary, but also greatly hamper human progress.
