According to Joe (Pip’s brother-in-law, the blacksmith), his father often hit his mother and himself after he got drunk. That’s to say, Joe has suffered domestic violence when he was young. Even though, Joe still said his father had a good heart, and wanted to put the following words on his father’s gravestone: “Whatever the fault he had from the start, Remember, reader, he had a good heart.” If you were Joe, would you do the same as him? And what is your opinions on domestic violence?

  I won't do that. Domestic violence can leave people hurt, affect the emotional and mental health of their families and, in severe cases, lead to mental illness.
