In the University Elemen- tary School these occupations are represented by the shopwork with wood and tools; by cooking, sewing, and by the textile work herewith reported upon. The fundamental point in the psychology of an occupation is that it maintains a balance between the intellectual and the practical phases of experi- ence. As an occupation it is active or motor; it finds expression through the physical organs- the eyes, hands,etc. But it also involves continual observation of materials,and continual planning and reflection, in order that the practical or execu- tive side may be successfully carried on.From a child's point of view, the biggest waste in school is that he is not able to apply what he has learned outside of school, but, on the other hand, he cannot apply what he has learned in school to real life, which is the isolation of the school, isolated from life.Literature plays an important role in school education, as it can cultivate students’ humanistic literacy, aesthetic taste, moral sentiment, innovative spirit, etc., help students understand the world, life, and themselves, and enhance students’ sense of life and value. Literature education is not only a process of imparting knowledge and skills, but also a process of enriching the spiritual world and improving oneself through literature as a medium.
