Jane had caught a cold during her stay at Netherfield, but she tried to hide it from the family so as not to worry them. However, her condition worsened, and she eventually fell ill. After hearing about her sister's illness, Elizabeth immediately returns home from Pemberley, where she had been visiting Mr. Darcy. She is deeply concerned for her sister's well-being and wants to be there to support her. Upon arriving home, Elizabeth goes to see Jane and stays by her side throughout her illness, taking care of her and trying to make her comfortable.
