Jane's first impression of Lowood School was that it was a place of hard conditions and strict rules. When Jane Eyre just arrived at Lowood School, she was caught up in a plague in the school, which left a deep impression on her, watching her friend Helen fall ill one by one, Jane Eyre realized the cruelty of life. In addition, the rules and regulations of the school are very strict and the living conditions are difficult.

Jane walked through the silent corridors of the large school, to the long, wide schoolroom. There about eighty girls, aged from nine to twenty, sat doing their homework. She sat on a bench near the door, with her slate.

Silent corridors, long and wide classrooms, long and narrow, crowded dormitories. The school buildings are dilapidated, the atmosphere is depressing, and the management of the school is strict and harsh.

Lowood was a very strict school, a place of strict rules and extremely difficult conditions. Mrs. Reed had insinuated maliciously to Mr. Brocklehurst, the school treasurer and steward, that Jane Eyre  was of bad character. Therefore, Jane Eyre was stigmatized as a liar in the school, for which she received a lot of unfair treatment. The kind Miss Temple  after investigation, completely cleared the slander against Jane Eyre.
