读《中国人的精神》

向亚丽
With the development of economy, the world is becoming more and more globalized. Faced with the vigorous development of cultures around the world, as a Chinese, how should we treat and carry forward the culture of our country? How should we cultivate our cultural self-confidence? I recently read Gu Hongming's book The Spirit of the Chinese People. In the book, Mr. Gu advocates the spirit and value of Chinese civilization to western countries in terms of Chinese people, Chinese language and Chinese etiquette. Among them, Chinese civilization refers to the Chinese civilization under the Confucian tradition. In the book, Mr. Gu praises Chinese civilization very much. What he reveals between the lines is his pride and pride in Chinese civilization. During World War I, European civilization declined rapidly. In his book, Mr. Gu pointed out that Chinese civilization would be another way out for Western civilization, and Chinese civilization would save the western people from the deep water. Mr. Gu believes that the Chinese spirit is divided into two parts. On the one hand, it is said that the Chinese spirit is gentlemanly. There is no toughness, no harshness, no rudeness or violence in the real Chinese world. He believes that there are ugliness, darkness and embarrassment in the life of Chinese people, but in the final analysis, the Chinese people are gentlemanly. Chinese people love peace, and it is very difficult for you to see aggression in them. The other part is about Chinese people's compassion. The Chinese people will not be as unreasonable as foreigners. In the Chinese people's bones, there is sympathy for all the misfortunes in the world. It is precisely because of this that Mr. Gu defines the real Chinese as "a child's mind and a recognized mind". In the book The Spirit of the Chinese, Westerners are afraid of God and the law, for which they spend a lot of manpower and material resources to restrain and control the two. But Chinese people are different. Chinese people rely on their inner kindness and kindness, which is the "benevolence" emphasized in Confucian culture. The goodness and benevolence of the Chinese are derived from their hearts. They regard it as a moral benchmark, while the Westerners only have rigid laws. Perhaps this is what Mr. Gu hopes to show you about the unique charm of the Chinese people through the book The Spirit of the Chinese People. Mr. Gu Hongming can be said to be a strange hero of Chinese culture. He is the first person in China to translate the Analects of Confucius and the Doctrine of the Mean into the West in English and German. In addition, he served as an interpreter for the envoys of the six countries. He was also called "the most noble Chinese" by Mahatma Gandhi of India. In short, Mr. Gu is a great man of our country. He introduced the peace-loving, benevolent and kind side of Chinese people to foreigners, so that China can go to the world. But in the eyes of modern people, we should correctly look at the Chinese traditional culture. We should carry forward and inherit its fine side, and cultivate our cultural self-confidence. But we should also see the inadequacy of Chinese traditional culture. As for Western civilization, perhaps we should not be so anxious to deny it. We should learn and adopt its good side. Then the Western civilization and the Eastern civilization will be integrated. I believe that only in this way can Chinese civilization and spirit stand in the fore
