《中国人的精神》决赛
李锦鑫
Before reading this book, if someone asks me, what is the Chinese spirit?
As a college student in the 21st century, we should learn to analyze problems rationally and dialectically. We should not only be proud of the excellent charm of our nation, but also dare to face up to our disadvantages. Only in this way can our nation stand on the top of the world for a long time and avoid being washed away by the flood of time. So I may answer say "loyalty" and "kind" "selfless", "industry", "unity" "enthusiasm", I also would say "ignorance" "ignorant" "cold" "ever-deeper sites" "keen on human blood steamed buns".
Before reading this book, if someone asks me, what do you think of the Confucianism created by Confucius?
I think I would say it is wise and full of humanity. It taught our ancestors how to communicate with people, how to take the initiative to improve their own cultivation, how to deal with the helpless contradiction between the small self and the vast world... There is even an allusion to "half of the analects of Confucius" governing the world. All Chinese people with conscience are grateful for it and love it. But I also hate it. Because it is for the monarch and other ruling class and service. It destroys human nature, rejects such human rights as "democracy", "freedom" and "equality", deprives the reasonable desire of ordinary Chinese people, and makes us be laughed at by westerners as "stupid loyalty"... There is no denying that while it has brought us peace, it has also done a lot of evil to our common people. It has poisoned the minds of the Chinese people.
Before reading this book, if someone asks me, do you prefer "freedom", "equality", "democracy", "rule of law" in the west, or the long-standing "Confucianism" in China? I think, I will hesitate for a long time, but in the end I will say western civilization. Why? It is said that the President of Peking University once stressed that we must have a "free and independent soul". My heart has been longing for a long time.
After reading this book, I finally found that western civilization is not perfect.
It also created a huge class divide. Even the religion he believed in led to the corruption of religious clergy. Its belief in the rule of law led to the "tyranny of the majority" and the dreaded "militarism" that eventually led to world war I. Therefore, Gu thought that exporting Confucian culture to the outside world could better promote social peace, that is, Confucian civilization could save the west. On second thought, indeed, world wars such as world war I and world war ii did not originate in China but in the west. After careful consideration, we found that under the guidance of Confucianism, we were able to find the shortcomings of Confucianism and constantly improve it, thus resulting in a series of national salvation actions such as the revolution of 1911. In addition, the Confucius temples now almost all over the world are also proof of the great influence of Confucianism on the world.
So let me introduce gu hongming, a geek. Gu hongming (1857.7.18-1928.4.30), whose given name was tang sheng, whose given name was hongming and whose given name was licheng, described himself as the slum-people, people from north and south, east and west, and also called himself as Mr. Donghong, who read yi yi in hanbin. His English name was Tomson. His ancestral home is hui 'an county, fujian province. He learned many Chinese and western languages and was known as a "geek" in the late qing dynasty. He was proficient in 9 languages including English, French, German, Latin, Greek and malaya, and obtained 13 doctor's degrees. He was the first person in China who was proficient in western science, language and Oriental sinology in the qing dynasty. He was keen to publicize Oriental culture and spirit to westerners, and had a great influence on them. Westerners once spread a saying: when you go to China, you can not ignore the three halls, but not gu hongming.
Of course, the discussion of Chinese women in the book can also show the severity of the persecution of Chinese people by the Confucian thought of "male superiority and female inferiority", which even the well-read Mr. Gu could hardly avoid. And that's exactly what we need to work on.
Finally, I want to end with a sentence from the book: "americans are broad and simple, but not deep; The English are deep and simple, but not grand; German broad, deep, and not simple; The French have no German natural deep, not as American broad-minded and the British heart simple, but have the three national lack of sensitivity; Only the Chinese have all four of these qualities.
Special note: the introduction of gu hongming comes from baike.
