The author thinks that the ideal female image of Chinese people is housewife, which conforms to the three concord and four virtues ,That is to say, when a woman is unmarried, she is to live for her father ; when married, she is to live for her husband ; and, as a widow, she is to live for her children . In fact, the chief end of a woman in China is not to live for herself, or for society; not to be a reformer or to be president of the woman' s natural feet Society; not to live even as a saint or to do good to the world; the chief end of a woman in China is to live as a good daughter, a good wife and a good mother.” But Chinese women never live by themselves, which is a tragedy. Although the author describes it as noble and praises its selfless dedication, it is actually a disguised "flattery", which is to shackle Chinese women to meet men's authority and desire. As he wrote : it is the selflessness of the wife in China, her sense of duty, the duty of self-sacrifice which allows a man in China to have handmaids or concubines.” This is a man's excuse and bullshit.
