“"I don't want to do anything out of the way!" he...” 全部笔记（1） 去书内

The purpose of the author is to reflect the situation of New York in the 1920s.That is numerous people’s New York dreams had been broken. They scrambled to enter into New York, expecting to make their life become better. However, they could only become numb and lost gradually, and their lives were mostly impossible to change. This purpose has been achieved enormously successfully. You can clearly see this purpose throughout the whole book.Whether it is the development of the story, or the characteristic, background, status, ending and so on of the characters, or even the description of the environment at that time, all of them have deeply revealed the purpose of the author. There are some details in the follows, which I hope can help you understand the purpose fundamentally as well as comprehensively.
