《了不起的盖茨比》中美国梦的破灭与人性的扭曲

!!!
The Great Gatsby, a classic novel written by American author Francis Scott Fitzgerald, profoundly reflects various phenomena of American society in the 1920s.

In this work, the protagonist, Gatsby, strives unremittingly to pursue the love and wealth in his heart, attempting to realize the so-called American Dream. However, his dream ultimately shatters in the face of the cruel reality.

On the one hand, the solidification of social classes and the hypocritical moral concepts become insurmountable obstacles for him. The people in the upper class seem elegant and noble on the surface, but in fact, they are indifferent and selfish, filled with discrimination against Gatsby's background.

On the other hand, human greed and desires are also vividly displayed in the novel. The people around Gatsby all reveal their ugly faces in the face of interests, making his sincere efforts worthless.

Then, do you think the shattering of Gatsby's American Dream is inevitable? What role does the distortion of human nature play in this process? Welcome everyone to express their opinions and jointly explore the profound themes revealed by this work.

I believe the shattering of Gatsby's American Dream was inevitable. The social structure of the 1920s was highly stratified, and the barriers imposed by class differences were insurmountable. Despite Gatsby's efforts and wealth accumulation, his humble origins marked him as an outsider in the eyes of the upper crust, who were firmly entrenched in their elitist mindset and discriminatory practices. The role of human distortion in this process was significant. The greed and self-interest of those around Gatsby overshadowed any genuine connection or loyalty. Their pursuit of personal gain at any cost meant that Gatsby's sincere efforts and pure intentions were exploited and ultimately disregarded. The society's focus on materialism and superficiality eroded true values and relationships, making it nearly impossible for someone like Gatsby to achieve his dream based on love and integrity. It was a combination of these societal and human factors that led to the inevitable downfall of his American Dream.
