橙味汤圆
Book review on How to Live on Twenty-Four Hours A DayHelen Keller once said: "To live each day as the last day of life";Lu Xun also said: "To make one's limited life more effective is equivalent to prolonging a his life".Both of these great men have emphasized the significance of making good use of the time of each day, giving us generalities of how to arrange time, but not the specific details of how to spend the twenty-four hours in a day. However, How to Live on Twenty-Four Hours A Day (A prolific Britain writer Arnold Bennett's nonfiction works, in January 2010, published by FLTRP) is widely acknowledged that it is not a simple pile about time management skills, but by depicting the true picture of daily life of some ordinary people ,using a humorous way and to the point of the brush shows us how a person rely on more effective use of our time in each day to improve their quality of life.Hailed as a classic book about time management, How to Live on Twenty-Four Hours A Day is so realistic in its depiction of everyday life that it makes readers feel that life is so hateful and boring that they are determined to make a change and so change their lives.Just as The Times comment that “With fresh, humorous and to the point, Mr Bennett tell us how we should live our days and how to identify our problems”,I can not agree on this any more. From my point of view,I do not think this book has a great storyline overall, but the author goes deeper and deeper in the content. He starts from gradually awaking us to gradually making efforts to change ourselves,to finally offering us some ways to avoid risk.I would like to name it that it is less a book on time management than a book on philosophy. What attracts me most about this book is that there are many good sentences worth deep considering.Firstly, one sentence from this book implies the main reason for your constant depression is that your misarrangement and laziness, that is “How can a man hope to live fully if he regards two thirds of his time as a subordinate to the other third, and does not undeniably spend that time with a high degree of enthusiasm?--Now that I have persuaded you to admit to yourself that you are constantly haunted by a suppressed dissatisfaction with your own arrangement of your daily life”. From all these,I can see that no matter how much money or time there would be, if used improperly, life will still be very terrible, and even owe a lot of debt;but time cannot be paid in advance, thus we are not in debt to time,it is factually a daily miracle. But if a day is willing to 24 hours, every day is just a routine life, washing, in order to catch the crowded bus panting, then the brain is also in blank all day......Thus, even if we realize that we should do what we can but do not act, then all is useless. Therefore, the author proposes to wake up first, realize that we should do what we can do, and then put into action. But this is not blind action. When doing one thing, learn to control our thoughts, practice concentration, and do one thing to focus on one thing.People are not superhuman, nor are they omnipotent, we do not need to do such things as forcing ourselves to read newspapers in the carriage, but should find leisure to read newspapers, so that the quality of reading is high enough, meanwhile keep our physical and mental pleasure. In addition, learn to reflect, no matter when, make sure to find a time during the day to reflect on your actions.Secondly,he says,“Only those who have lived at the full stretch seven days a week for a long time can appreciate the full beauty of a regular recurring idleness.”,which I think is also full of philosophy. There are seven days in a week, but it's better to spend six days a week on your plan than seven days a week on your plan.Of course, art is essential to living a good 24 hours a day."Nothing in life is boring", be it books, music...whatever,there will always be as you are interested in, no matter what, once you find you can earnestly to study. For example, if you are a bank clerk, and you haven't read that fascinating romantic story - Lombard Street,a classic work of Walter Bagehot, then begin with this book, you will find that how much your work appeals to you, and you will understand the mysteries of human nature more clearly...However, to have a fulfilling life, you don't have to devote yourself to art and literature. Trapped in the city, but you are fond of nature and hiking, why not go in your slippers and take a butterfly net and go for a walk in the park, and walk up to a street lamp and watch the moths fly around.Nothing in life is boring. When you have made up your mind to complete a task, no matter how tedious it may be, do it at all costs. In this way, your confidence will increase greatly after the task is completed. How to Live on Twenty-Four Hours A DAY consists of 12 small chapters. The author progresses from the simple to the profound, which is introduced by the time, and the topic gradually deepens. The examples listed by the author are so easy to understand that after reading them, people will have the urge to cross the rubicon to make a decision to change. Its compact plot deeply reverts the real life of some people at that time, and every time you read it, you seem to be there. What's even more fascinating, though, is that it also paints a true picture of most people's lives today, and is hugely enlightening for later generations. It's suitable for people of all classes and ages basically.I think that's why it's such an enduring classic. With brilliant brushwork and in a humorous way, it crosses the boundary of time and space and inspires people to think deeply.Everyone can be the master of his own time. To find the art of the joy of living, to study it, to enjoy it, and to practice it, is actually to enjoy life seriously.Everything is empty and everyone knows the truth. So,if you want to spend 24 hours a day in a leisurely way, that is, if you want to have a high quality of life, you should implement the plan that you can.To learn better about time management,it is worth reading.
