杨嘉诚

A work of satire

杨嘉诚

In the Land of Little People, the main character is captured by the Land of Little People as a giant. He helped the country but in the end was betrayed by the Lilliputian Kingdom for eating too much. He urinated to save the Queen's palace from fire. The naval officer joins with others in a petition to frame the protagonist and the king agrees to kill him. Then a kindly man tells the protagonist, who flees to the enemy country. The villain, however, makes a show of righteousness and gives the protagonist to the enemy country and speaks with great pomp and circumstance. Gulliver's Travels was always thought to be a fairy tale, but it turns out to be a satirical novel. Through his travels in the Land of the Little People, the Land of the Great People, the Floating Island and the Land of the Wise, the author uses magical imagery, exaggeration and humorous language to "scourge the corruption, incompetence, venality, desolation, greed and arrogance of the ruling class of his time". As you read, you will sweat at the ugliness of human nature and laugh at the hilarious storyline.
