After delving into Chinese Ideological and Cultural Terms (Volume 3), I
am deeply impressed by the profound insights and rich connotations it
presents, which serve as a bridge connecting the ancient wisdom of China
with the modern world. This volume offers an in - depth exploration of a
wide range of Chinese cultural and philosophical concepts, revealing the
essence of traditional Chinese thought. One of the most striking
aspects of this book is its meticulous presentation of fundamental
Chinese philosophical ideas. Concepts such as “崇本息末” (revering the
fundamental and dismissing the specific) are not only explained in their
historical and philosophical contexts but also analyzed for their
implications. These ideas showcase the Chinese sages' deep understanding
of the world, emphasizing the importance of seeking the essence while
discarding superficial distractions. For example, the concept of “道”
(Dao), which is often at the core of these terms, represents a profound
way of understanding the universe, nature, and human existence. It makes
me realize that traditional Chinese philosophy is not just abstract
theory but a practical guide for life and governance.
