huanghuizhen
The story told a beautiful but not wealthy woman, Mathilde, in order to attend a party brightly, she borrowed a wonderful necklace from her friend. But she accidently lost it. As a result , she spent the rest of her life to make money for repaying the necklace. Many years latter , she became old and disgrace. And evenher friend cannot recognize her when they met on the street. Then her friend told her the necklace she borrowed was fake . The ending was unexpected.Mathilde's lifetime of misery and despair is solely caused by her own selfish acts. She dreamed to have a splendid life, but at the end she obtained nothing. So vanity is defined as excessive pride, especially in appearance.
