In the final chapter of Tess of the D'Urbervilles,it
said:"Justice was done. The president of the immortal had ended
his spot with Tess."What does it mean?
I think although the author aympathizes with Tess,he,just like
Tolstoy, has a deep contempt for woman as men, believing that they are
sinful and deserving of punishment, either physically or characteristically.
