It impressed me a lot when the fox asked little prince to tame him. I can't fully understand the motivation why the fox wants little prince to tame him. Is it because he feels like changing his monotonous life? Is it because he wants to estabilsh ties with little prince? Perhaps there are also some other reasons.
The fox teaches little prince how to tame himself step by step. He teaches little prince how to be patient, how to act without words and how to observe the proper rites. Finally, after he is tamed, he wants to cry when little prince is about to depart.
What the fox says are enlightened. For example, "But there is no shop anywhere where one can buy friendship, and so men have no friends any more." It is true that friendship is precious and men can't receive friendship very easily. "Words are the source of misunderstandings." I think it is very accurate for we often misunderstand what others says and cause an argument. Especially what the fox finally teaches little prince, "It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye." I think it is quite right.
