After reading scarlet letter
Hawthorne made me believe in the vastness of human heart again. Every plot in life is very metaphorical. All we have to do is tolerance and silence.
The plot of the story is simple, and a short story can be expressed clearly if possible. Hawthorne did his best to write a grand novel. The background of the story takes place in Boston around 1650. As Puritans persecuted in England, they immigrated here with the ideal of creating a paradise on earth. They pay attention to reason, reject feelings, advocate ideals, forbid desires, and even go to extremes, and prohibit women from smiling and children from playing. Hester Prynne was wise and resolute. Although she was Chillingworth's wife, it was rumored that her husband had long died in the sea, had an affair with the sensitive and knowledgeable Reverend bodingmesdale, and gave birth to a baby girl pearl. After the incident was exposed, Hester was imprisoned for several days and humiliated on the torture platform for several hours, and had to wear the scarlet letter of "a" that could be raped all the time. But she refused to name the baby girl's father. Then Chillingworth, who immigrated here, begged Hester to hide their relationship and became a doctor here. Hester suffered from the humiliation and criticism around her. She lived in seclusion and was easy to give. On the one hand, the Reverend Dimmesdale had to preach the so-called orthodox doctrine, on the other hand, he had to endure psychological torture and suffering. Chillingworth approached the Reverend Dimmesdale in order to cure his illness, felt the hidden pain in his heart from his daily words and deeds, and resented revenge. After a meeting between Hester Prynne and Dimmesdale in the forest, Hester revealed to Dimmesdale the true identity of Chillingworth. The priest felt greater pain and relief. The priest decided to redeem himself during the Election Sermon and showed his sins to the public. Finally, Dimmesdale walked to the scaffold where Hester Prynne was humiliated and died of aggravated illness. A year later, Chillingworth also died and died with Dimmesdale, but there was a space in the middle to share a tombstone: "a dark land, a blood red a word." Hester Prynne returned here again, still wearing the scarlet letter of shame and living quietly.

listWe are all sinners in the eyes of god, who is infinitely pure. The scarlet letter tells us that even the holiest among us may attain only a little higher than our fellow-men; Only when we can clearly distinguish the benevolent God who looks down on us can we more thoroughly deny the seemingly positive illusion of human virtue.
