Wax dyeing is a process in which ethnic minorities in the southwest of China use local plant dyes (indigo), beeswax and rosin resin to draw patterns on cotton cloth by hand and then dye them. Wax printing is mainly popular among Miao and Bai people in Yunnan. The Miao people have exquisite weaving techniques handed down from generation to generation. The cloth they weave is beautiful, soft, meticulous and of excellent quality. It is called "iron flute cloth". Yunnan batik takes the local mountains and rivers as the material of creation, and peacocks, elephants, camellias, people, etc. as the patterns, which is unique.
