Cuju, also known as step Ju or kick round, is an ancient Chinese activity to kick a ball with the feet. It is also one of the most distinctive traditional sports in Chinese culture. "Cu" means kicking, tapping or kicking. This action can be traced back to the primitive hunting with kicking stone balls to prey, while "Ju" is the earliest ball filled with rice bran and wrapped with leather. In early 2004, FIFA confirmed that football originated from China, and the earliest football game recorded in historical records was "Cuju" which originated 2,300 years ago. In May 2006, Cuju was included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritage list as an intangible cultural heritage. Cuju was a team sport with strong playability. It was not restricted by the venue and its activities were flexible and unrestricted. Therefore, it was very popular at the beginning of its birth and became a pastime for people after meals. There are different opinions about the origin of Cuju. It was said that after defeating Chiyou, the Yellow Emperor captured Chiyou, took out his stomach, stuffed it with hair and kicked it to the soldiers as a ball
